From an ecological perspective, sustainability describes the ability of biological systems to remain healthy, diverse, and productive over time. Sustainability is a concept that applies to higher levels of replications by biological organizations - such as ecosystems, rather than to individual species . In the realm of globalization and associated dietary transition, traditional food items are often replaced by easily available super processed foods , lab foods as "Alt Protein" !? This definition is simply absurd ,ridiculous from Indian ethnic community perspective ! From immemorial times tribal , aboriginal communities of India consumed fresh water molluscs as alternative meat . Recent research states carbon footprint of snail meat is estimated to be around 0.7 kgs per 1 kg of edible meat and snail meat contain 16 grams of protein per 100 grams of edible meat !

Indian natural bio-resource for alternative protein is Edible Snail Meat !
